Sheikh Sanko Mohammadi, French Sunni Mufti: I became a Shia because I got to know Karbala

I feel sorry for myself that I did not know Shia until now, when I am 68 years old, and I am very happy. Before this, during my trip to Madinah, I got to know the Shiites and the Ahl al-Bayt of the Prophet (s.a.w.w) in Iraq. They had hidden the Prophet’s family from us in Madinah, but today I discovered them.

“Sheikh Sanko Mohammadi”, a French Sunni mufti, imam of the mosque and adviser on religious affairs, converted to Shiism after visiting Iraq after visiting the Martyrs’ Spring Festival and meeting with “Hujjat al-Islam Walid al-Baaj”.

He said in a speech: I did not believe that Karbala and Shiites were like this. When I decided to come to Karbala, my family prevented me and told me: Iraq is a battlefield. Despite many objections, I came to Iraq to do research in this field.

He added: I got to know Shia in Karbala, which I didn’t know before, I went from darkness to light and now I see myself free.

Sheikh Mohammadi said: I am sorry for myself that I did not know Shia until now, when I am 68 years old, and I am very happy from now on, I am one of the Shia soldiers and I am introducing Shia to the world, and tell this to Mr. Sistani on my behalf.

He continued: “Before this, I traveled to Madinah, but to the extent that I got to know the Shiites and the Ahl al-Bayt of the Prophet (s.a.w.w) in Iraq, I did not get to know him there. They had hidden the Prophet’s family from us in Madinah, but today I discovered them.

Sheikh Sanko is originally from Cameroon, but he has been living in France for 43 years and is considered a French citizen, and he is known for building mosques in that country.
