Luca Gaetani Lovatelli was born into an aristocratic family in 1955, Italy. As a cameraman who worked for the Italian National Television, Luca had travelled to Bosnia and western Asia.
He also had a journey to Afghanistan, together with his childhood friend, Edoardo Agnelli, to make a documentary about the country.
Luca found out about Islam through Edoardo.
In 1988, he travelled to Iran with Edoardo and after a lengthy talk with Mohammad Hasan Qadiri Abyane, converted to Shia Islam.
On 2 April 2007, his dead body was found under a bridge, with traces of beating evident on it. In spite of this, his case was closed and his death, like Edoardo Agnelli’s, was ruled a suicide.
