A young French man, Daniel, has converted to Islam in the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) choosing “Ali” as his new Muslim name.
Following his conversion at Astan Quds Razavi’s Deputy Office for Non-Iranian Pilgrims’ Affairs, the Muslim convert said: “I visited almost all Iranian cities’ mosques and historical sites and became interested in Iran and its people when I toured Iran for the first time.”
He added: “When I talked to my guide about religious issues, I felt more closeness with the Muslims; the more I found out, the more I became interested in Islam.”
Continuing his remarks, Ali noted that upon his return to France “my personal curiosity to Islam and Islamic topics increased in a way that I decided to do research on Islamic sects.”
Criticizing a small portion of Muslims for their extremist beliefs, he said: “Millions of Muslims are living all over the world in peace, but Western countries use the small portion’s acts as a pretext to form and fuel Islamophobia.”
Admiring Iranian people’s culture, open-mindedness and hospitality and introducing religion as an important base for culture, the French man stated that Iranian people’s kindness and cordiality reflect the country’s rich culture and civilization.
Expressing his feeling toward Razavi shrine, Ali said: “The shrine city of Mashhad attracted me a lot when I visited it for the first time and I consider my today’s conversion in this holy shrine nothing but a gift from God.”
The ceremony came to an end by granting some AQR’s cultural gifts to the newly converted French Muslim.
