She was a PhD graduate of political science from and taught at the Paris Institute of Political Studies. Mariam was also a research fellow at the National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations for years, where she studied the social relations between Shias and Sunnis in Pakistan and Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>The French professor played an active role in reflecting the tragic and violent situation of the Shiites of Pakistan and Afghanistan. During her trips to the West Asian region, Mariam Abou Zahab made several visits to the holy shrines of Shia Imams in Iraq, and met with Iraqi academics and religious authorities.
