I was from a neighborhood in Lebanon where most of the people are fanatical about the Sunni religions, not only do they have no information about the Shia religion, but they are also ignorant of their own Sunni religion…
Arguing with them is of no use and it causes slander to leave the religion. I met a man who had become a Shia in one of the events, and I asked him for a reason. He said, first of all, I heard the story of Imam Ali’s battle with Omar Ibn Abduwad and the hadith of the Messenger of God about Ali (a.s), who said that all faith and all disbelief stand against each other. In my heart, after hearing these things, I felt a special love for Imam Ali (a.s).
Finally, in order to make the truth clear to me, I started to discuss religions, so I chose two schools and several professors. A group of Sunnis and a group of Shiites. I used to convey each one’s words to the other.
The focus of the discussion was ” Hadith of Ghadir and Ali’s guardianship, Imam Ali’s special bravery, Imam Ali (a.s) sleeping instead of the Messenger of God (s.a.w.w) and sacrificing his life for the Prophet (s.a.w.w), the verse of guardianship and the obligation of Ali’s caliphate, the purification verse, etc.
The result was that all the doubts were answered by the Shiite scholars and in many references to the Sunni scholars, after a long discussion, they also admitted the authenticity of Imam Ali and Ahl al-Bayt (a.s)
Finally, on 5/12/1989, I converted to Shiism and declared Shiism and accepted the religion of Ahl al-Babit.
